Social engagement in Zimbabwe
In 2010, Co-directors Christopher Marianetti and Jeremy Thal traveled to Zimbabwe for two weeks to participate in the Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA). Working with a group of twelve Zimbabwean musicians, students, and poets, we collectively wrote original work that intertwined music, poetry and personal narratives to reflect on issues relating to HIV in Zimbabwe, as well as the greater social context which allowed for the epidemic to occur. Excerpts from this project were premiered live at HIFA on April 30th, 2010. This project was made possible by the US Embassy in Zimbabwe, PSI, and HIFA Artistic Director (and dear friend of FSN!) Manuel Bagorro.
